I'm driving back home tonight after picking up dinner for us. I'm switching stations trying to locate a good song on the radio. Then a song comes on that brings back memories of my days at the roller rink......Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'N Roll." I get on the phone with my sister (Penny) and have the song up pretty loud in the background. She starts laughing and puts it on speakerphone so that my niece (Olivia) can hear me sing. Olivia demands that I roll down my windows and turn it up some more (no, I did not follow her advice....can you imagine the looks I'd get driving down the tollway? Geeeeze!).
My sister and I went to a day care for a few years and there were certain days of the week we always looked forward to (swimming, rollerskating, and gymnastics (no, I did not wear tights). Back to Joan Jett, I remember when this song came on at the roller rink I used to skate faster and take the turns a little tighter around the orange cones (what a tough guy!). For what it's worth, I was also pretty good at the Hokey Pokey and Limbo Rock.
It sure was fun back then......skating for a few hours while listening to music, swimming all day, riding my bike over to my best friends house to play Nintendo and shoot a few hoops, playing baseball in the backyard, playing tackle football in the front yard......this list could go on and on (I won't even get started on movies and other songs). Oh well, it was a nice trip down memory lane for a few minutes tonight.

WOW! I miss the roller rink days. You know I still have my speed skates?
Lets go to the rink and then we can come back to my place and play duck hunt...
isn't it crazy how something as simple as a song can bring memories flooding back?
