Winter Park....Day 1

A couple weeks ago Bethany and I went on a trip to Winter Park, CO. For those that don't know, Bethany loves to ski..... a lot. On March 20th, we woke up early (more proof of that later in the blog) to spend a week in the snow. A little side story...we are flying with Frontier Airlines. The airline has this cool idea to put a different animal on each of their planes (we rode with Foxy the Fox (clever name). I believe the funniest thing about riding with Foxy is that Bethany was not aware that there was a fox on the wing (see pic above) for most of the flight. Imagine seeing a fox when take a peek out the window. I thought it was pretty funny.


We arrive in Winter Park around 11am and decide to stock up the condo with a few groceries. Winter Park has a great bus system, so you can get around town pretty easily. After picking up groceries, we had a few minutes before the bus arrived.....so I decided to take a little nap (and of course Bethany decided to snap a picture). I believe Bethany is jealous that she can't nap like me.



After picking up a few groceries, we took a trip over to ride snowmobiles. We have never driven snowmobiles before, so it was quite an experience (I thought my thumb was going to fall off after driving for an hour). It was a lot of fun and a great start to the vacation! BTW, the helmets make you look like big dorks.

We're off to Winter Park in the morning. I woke up this morning (thursday) feeling a little bummed that it was the last morning for a few days that I would be able to greet my little girl. Nothing starts my day off better than picking Madelyn up out of her bed and sitting with her for a few minutes while she wakes up. Afterwards, change into the outfit she is going to wear, talk about what we are going to do, and then head over to the kitchen to make Mom her breakfast.

This evening Bethany and I ate over at her parent's place, so I got to hang out with Madelyn for a few more hours. When I arrived, she was so excited to see me walk in the room (Bethany usually picks her up), so this was quite a "surprise". After dinner, she was off to bath and bed......and we were headed home to pack.

The Chair....

No, this isn't a blog about the George Strait song. We figured since the NCAA Tournament is right around the corner, it was time to order Madelyn her own chair to watch the games. We had no idea that she would enjoy it so much. For those wondering, Madelyn believes the Ags will beat BYU by 5 in the 1st round. Hope she's right.....

HLS&R Part 2

It's Rodeo Time!!!!!!!

We took Madelyn today to her first Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She had a blast looking at all of the animals and even getting to pet a few. After much hesitation, I (Bethany) decided to get on the longhorn with Madelyn to take a picture. Chris assured me it would be fine, but I knew we would definitely be the first to get bucked off the longhorn!! Needless to say things went great and the photographer was impressed with Madelyn's smile for the camera.

We spent the majority of the afternoon walking around the different exhibits and by 4pm she was knocked out cold in her stroller. I believe her first Houston rodeo experience went well!

This was our second time to the rodeo in a week. Chris was given a couple tickets from a friend at work for the Clay Walker concert. Chris is a HUGE Clay Walker fan (been to over 20 of his concerts), so he was pretty excited to be able to check out the show.

Hats....

About this time last year, Bethany noticed that I had a LARGE collection of baseball caps. I was instructed to "cull the collection" (which I did). Well, a couple days ago I walked into my hat closet (yes, there is a closet in our house that has a rather substantial section devoted to headgear) and noticed that it had grown. Almost every hat in the collection carries an unmeasurable amount of awesomenimity....so there is no way I could let them go. For the record, there are about 10 more hats.......but they didn't make the cut.
